HOT ROD SURF at The Von Pinstriper Reunion inside The Grand National Roadster Show (Pictures below) Hot Rod Surf was featured in the Von Hot Rod Pinstriper Reunion invitational at the 2007 Grand National Roadster Show in Pomona, California. JF and JP attended, MWM had an engagement to stay in the SD city limits. Shop friend and up and coming local pinstriper Thatcher made the trek with us. The GNRS featured the 75 most influential (1932 Ford ) Deuce’s to date and it was a great experience to soak up all the diversity of the various Hot Rod builders work. Hot Rod Surf donated two pieces of art custom pinstriped work done by MWM to the charity auction which along with a bunch of other stripers work made thousands of dollars for “The House of Ruth” charity for battered women. The Pinstriper Reunion was a great time to watch and experience. All around masters of the art laying down lines with their own distinct stylistic techniques. We were asked so many question one of which was ‘how do I pinstriped …what do I need?...what technique should I use? what is a good started line?’ We were stoked we brought plenty of copies of Basic Hot Rod Pinstriping Techniques with HOT ROD SURF Book by MWM to answer all of their questions about the mysterious and now popular art form of free hand pinstriping . All though we didn’t bring enough Hot Rod Surf 100% Genuines as they sold out!!! We will have more at the next shows. The addition of ‘the Suede Palace’ was a breath of fresh air where it was apparent that the Hot Rod scene is evolving and flourishing with many new radical rods done by lots of great clubs and young builders. Hot Rod Surf would like to thank Von Hot Rod for the special invite, all the Pinstripers who attended and donated to the charity, with a special thanks to San Diego Pinstriper Von Raven (who was in the pinstriping trance) and all who came to the booth, and bought something. Look forward to seeing you all again next year. We will be at the local Big Three Auto exchange here in SD at the end of the month.
